Following a convincing 51-10 win over Clemson , LSU moved up three spots to No. 8 in the country, one spot ahead of Week 3 opponent No. 9 Ole Miss .
While Michigan technically beat Western Michigan on a controversial last-second Hail Mary touchdown, the AP voters still dropped the Wolverines all the way out of the top 25. Michigan had been ranked No. 16 in the preseason poll.
Oregon also saw a big drop, falling four spots from No. 6 after a close call victory over Boise State .

Michigan managed to stay in the Coaches Poll top 25 but weren't as lucky in the AP Poll. The poll dropped around the same time that the MAC issued a statement that the replay protocol wasn't properly followed in Michigan's controversial 13-12 win over Western Michigan. The MAC is even asking the Football Oversight Committee and College Football Playoff committee to recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner. Based on the AP voters dropping Michigan out, it seems they already do.
It takes away what would have been a top 25 clash between Michigan and No. 11 Oklahoma this weekend.
It's no surprise that LSU moved up three spots after demolishing Clemson Saturday night in Baton Rouge. What was slightly surprising, however, was Ole Miss not moving up after defeating No. 24 Louisville. While it wasn't the prettiest effort in a game defined more by explosive offense than competent defense, Ole Miss is the only team with a top 25 win after the first week. The Rebels should have at least jumped Texas A&M based off that win over a tough opponent.
Similarly, No. 7 Miami feels a bit low after it crushed Stanford, 45-6. Even though Stanford isn't great, Miami still should have been better rewarded for beating a Power 4 opponent than the teams that beat up on Group of 6 teams.
