Samsung takes aim at Apple's iPhone Duo with a new ad featuring Tim Cook...from New Zealand, not the former Apple CEO.
Samsung is responding to the iPhone Duo by circulating a cheeky ad that features a "Tim Cook" endorsing the Galaxy Fold Z 8 - except it's not former Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Instead, the Samsung ad stars Tim Cook from Palmerston North, New Zealand. "Hi, I'm Tim Cook. From Palmy," the man says, while wearing glasses and clothing similar to the well-known Apple exec. In the ad, the New Zealander reviews the Galaxy Z Fold 8 , lampooning Apple's usual hyperbolic language.
"This thing is the best of both worlds," the New Zealander says. "Best phone I've ever had. You can quote me. Tim Cook from Palmerston North."
Samsung published the ad on social media a day after Apple finally debuted its long-rumored foldable, the iPhone Duo, which is already creating buzz. Analysts expect the Duo to boost the adoption of foldable phones , which currently account for 2% of the total smartphone market, according to Counterpoint Research.
